We had so much fun doing activities with the children of Bahay Aurora in Baras, Rizal Philippines. One weekend, we decided to make our way and surprise the children with a lot of fun and activities.
The Philippines, despite being such a beautiful country, is still suffering. Around 10 percent of children go through poverty and need to find life in the streets through begging or working for their own money just to stay alive. They are left with no education and no privileges of care and protection.
Thus, Bahay Aurora Children’s Home offers a home where these children can feel welcome and at ease. They are also offered education and programs for their optimal growth and development.
When we visited the children’s home, we were welcomed wholeheartedly by the staff and children. The first agenda we had for the children was a presentation by actress Meg Imperial. She serenaded the children with popular Tagalog hits. For the next activity, we had the children separate into different groups. Each group had to create an artwork from the materials we supplied. It was a lot of fun seeing all the creativity!
After 20 minutes, the children were required to present the meaning of their artwork in front of a panel of judges – Sheryl Lynn, Meg and Rave. It was a heartwarming experience listening to their simple wishes for Christmas. Overall, we had a lot of fun! And we were happy to see that the children of Bahay Aurora also enjoyed our presence.
If you have a little extra time or resources to spare for this holiday season, just remember that there are a lot who are in need, and even a small gift of time will be enough to help brighten their day. To visit or give donations, go to Bahay Aurora Children’s Home official page.
