Manila is a city brimming with unique experiences, and one of the most vibrant and memorable has to be the annual Jeepney Wine Tour. I recently had the pleasure of joining this fantastic event on February 15, 2025, and it was a whirlwind of delicious food, and of course, fantastic wine! If you're an expat or a visitor looking for an authentic Manila adventure, this is an absolute must-do.

Imagine this: colorful, decked-out jeepneys, the iconic symbol of the Philippines, transporting you between some of Makati's most exciting restaurants and bars. It's not just a tour; it's a cultural immersion, a chance to connect with fellow foodies and experience the heart of Manila's culinary scene.
The Jeepney Wine Tour took us on a delightful journey through Makati, with four distinct stops, each offering its own unique flavor and ambiance.
Stop 1: Tartufo Ristorante (Greenbelt)
Our adventure began at the elegant Tartufo Ristorante in Greenbelt. This Italian gem set the tone for the evening with its sophisticated atmosphere and delectable appetizers. Paired with our first wine of the night, it was the perfect way to kick off the tour. The rich flavors of the Italian cuisine were a delightful complement to the crisp, refreshing wine.
Stop 2: Society Lounge
Next, we hopped into our jeepney and cruised over to Society Lounge. This stylish spot offered a different vibe altogether. The modern décor and lively atmosphere made it a great place to mingle and enjoy the second wine selection. The energy of the lounge was infectious, and it was easy to see why it's a popular hangout in Makati.
Stop 3: Elbert's Collective
Elbert's Collective was a carnivore's dream! This stop showcased some of the best meats in the city. The perfectly cooked steaks and other savory dishes were a real highlight of the tour. The robust red wine we sampled here was a perfect match for the rich, smoky flavors of the food.
Stop 4: Mamou 5 (Greenbelt)
Our culinary journey culminated back in Greenbelt at Mamou 5. This well-loved restaurant is known for its comforting Filipino-American cuisine. It was the perfect place to end the tour, enjoying a final glass of wine and reflecting on the incredible experience. The familiar flavors of Mamou 5 provided a warm and satisfying end to the evening.

The Jeepney Experience:
Beyond the food and wine, the jeepney rides themselves were a highlight. Cruising through the streets of Makati in these uniquely Filipino vehicles was an experience in itself. It's a fun and social way to get around, and it adds an authentic touch to the entire tour. The vibrant decorations and the friendly atmosphere inside the jeepneys made each ride a mini-party.
A Must-Do for Expats and Visitors:
The Jeepney Wine Tour is more than just a food and wine event; it's a cultural experience. It's a chance to immerse yourself in the vibrant energy of Manila, sample some of the city's best cuisine, and connect with fellow enthusiasts. Whether you're an expat looking to explore your new home or a visitor wanting to experience the real Manila, this tour is an absolute must-do.
